What is ADA?
“ADA” is an acronym for the Americans with Disabilities Act, which requires businesses and website owners to make accommodations for people with disabilities in all their web content. That is, all web content should be accessible to the blind, deaf, and those who must navigate by voice, screen readers or other assistive technologies. This law has been in force for over a decade but has been fairly dormant until 2018 when a supreme court judgment was passed on a website owner for non-compliance. This caused a sudden surge in businesses and website owners being sued for noncompliance with ADA.
What could happen if web content is not ADA compliant?
Failure to comply with Section 508 of the Department of Justice's Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Standards for Accessible Design could expose your company to hefty fines, the risk of expensive criminal and civil litigation as well as a reputation for being unfriendly to people with disabilities.

Can I see an example?
For an example, see the icon in the lower right corner of your screen. Click that icon to open the accessibility settings. From there, click on any of the items to see how it changes the website. Clicking on the reset link at the bottom of the accessibility settings will return to normal settings.
