This memory option allows for 1500 titles with no illustrations above the 200 that the first Kindle can store. Owing to the large internal memory, Amazon opted not to include an SD expansion slot to the Kindle 2.
Faster Operation - Amazon had faster operation in mind when they built this second version of the Kindle wireless reading device. Page-refreshing is a lot faster and it houses a much faster processor than its first version. There is now global release of the Kindle 2 that operates in over a hundred other countries. The only valid difference in the International version is that it accesses a different network than the US versions.
Other benefits of the new Kindle include a better joystick, finer image, a Whispersync option and a text to speak function.
